I haven't been posting consistently lately.  I spent the two weeks before Christmas trying to come up with a tall wish list, but...duh duh da dum...I couldn't think of a thing.  UMMM, what?!?  But the fact is I had just gotten engaged to the best man I know and it felt a little selfish asking for anything more, if that makes sense.  I was overwhelmed by the love of my family, friends, and fiance (I'm still getting used to that word!).

But there's nothing like after Christmas sales that get me in the shopping mood.  I picked a few of my best finds and pictured them here.  Plus...if you're looking for steals for tall women, you can check out some of the sites I listed below.

The (not so) Little Black Dress

If an average-sized woman calls a piece of clothing 'little' (e.g. "I'm going to wear my little black dress") it's not going to work on me.   Average-sized 'little' is tall girl 'barely legal.' Therefore I went to Polyvore on a search for a (Not So) Little Black Dress, and voila!  Three dresses that are festive and little-ish but still cover all my tall girl bits.

Since some of these items are on the super-expensive side, I went on a hunt for similar items that are more budget friendly (AND in tall sizes, of course).   I found two fun dress options: One from Long Tall Sally, and the other from Height Goddess.  Asos has some fantastic clutches, and here is my favorite.  They have fun jewelry, too.  Here are my earring and necklace choices.  Endless, Barefoot Tess, and Nordstrom have great dress sandals right now - these are similar to the bronze pair featured above.

Anyone have fun plans for New Year's Eve?  What are you going to wear?

Heels can be a touchy subject for tall women. We tend to be firmly in either the Yes, Please! or Seriously?!? camp. If my 18 year-old self were here, she'd say "Ummm, seriously? I'm already 6'2" - heels are overkill." As I've grown up and gotten a lot more comfortable with my height I've settled somewhere in the middle. While I have nothing but respect for tall women who wear sky-high heels, it's not my choice. I'm 100% a mid-heels kind of girl - I don't wear anything over 3" (and prefer to max out at 2"). I wonder if maybe the younger me had a point. Is it overkill? Data shows that less than 1 in 10,000 women are 6'2" or above - I think I'm satisfied with that figure (nevermind that I'm a redhead which makes me that much more improbable. P.S. You were right Mom! I'm 1 in a million.) ;)

If you're with me and love mid-heels, you know it can be very hard to find good options. So...I decided to compile a few of my favorites. My most versatile and well-loved shoe is the Sasha by Steve Madden (#4). They go with anything.

And by the way, if Santa reads my blog (you do, right Santa?) - may I please have #5? Please?

06 Dec 2011

My goal was to post at least 4 times a week in the month of December, but it looks like I'm already behind.  I have a great excuse though:  I'm engaged!  I could NOT BE HAPPIER!  He proposed on Sunday and it has been an absolute whirlwind ever since.  I'm totally overwhelmed by all the love and support we've gotten.  I'm such a lucky girl!!

So I just wanted to check in, share the AMAZING NEWS, and say that I'll be back soon.  I'm working on Christmas wish lists and can't wait to share them with you.

Brown cords Anthro sweater

I already posted one of these photos as my very first outfit of the day.  But, in honor of pants week I wanted to show you my favorite pair...the one pair I love to wear (Unavoidable rhyme.  Have I mentioned I'm a poet?).  I got these trouser cords from Anthro.  They have a 37" inseam and just enough stretch to be super comfortable without compromising the tailored look.  The sweater is a frequent flyer in my closet - the buttons are wooden squares, it's long enough on my tall frame, and the sleeves are perfect despite the fact that it's an average-height size.  I'm sure it will continue to pop up in my outfits so you'll get to see the front of it soon.

What do you think of cords?  Are your's tailored, or a bit more casual?
