"These are my people!"    I'm pretty sure I said that out loud while walking into the Long Tall Sally pop-up shop last weekend.  I really don't know that many tall women. Of my bridesmaids, the tallest is 5'7" (the others are 5' and 5'3"). I don't get to spend much time with women who know what it's like to be tall. And I LOVED it.

OH MY WORD. There was no stopping me. I zeroed in on the dresses and spotted the most beautiful maxi I've seen in a very long time. And the absolute best part?!? The hem goes all the way to the floor. Be still my beating heart.

Long Tall Sally Maxi Dress

I'm actually thinking this could be a perfect dress for our rehearsal dinner (and our honeymoon)!!

What's your latest LTS find?  Have you been to a pop-up shop?

Scott and I were invited to an awesome winter wedding last weekend. It was the first wedding I'd been to since Scott proposed, so I had a whole new level of appreciation for all the personal touches the bride incorporated (my favorite part? The wedding Mad Libs!).

I started with a grey dress but it felt too drab, so I did a 180 and went with the most vibrant dress in my closet. I added black tights and booties since it was cold (I know, I know...that happens sometimes in winter). ;)

Winter Wedding Midi

I've said it before, but midi-dresses are this tall girl's dream. I like a little leg coverage - and that's hard to come by on my frame. I'm crossing my fingers that midis and maxis become classic silhouettes that never go out of fashion. Because...WOW does it feel good to have dress options again!

Winter Wedding Midi 2

1.  The dress is Presley Skye from Nordstrom which isn't in stock, but here's another tall-size midi I love, 2. Spanx tights, and 3. I love these boots - they have a 2" kitten heel and are super comfortable, but unfortunately they're out of stock at Old Navy, so I found another pair of similar booties you might like.

What's your favorite dress style? Where do you think is the most flattering silhouette on tall women?

It normally doesn't snow in Seattle.  I deal with the rain just so I can avoid a) snow, and b) heat/humidity.  I'm convinced that there is a very specific reason the majority of redheads are in the U.K. - God intended for us to be in very temperate climates. ;)  So needless to say I'm not excited about tomorrow's impending Snowpocalypse.  Outside of disliking the extreme cold, the absolute biggest problem about snowstorms in Seattle is that the city essentially shuts down.  We don't have snow plows to speak of and we don't use sand or salt on the roads.   We are a city of hills that turn into giant ski jumps if it's the least bit icy.  Blech.

So, on this Snowpocalypse-Eve I'm dreaming of cozy layers, warm boots, and a big coat.  And I'd like to look put together while wearing them.  Kind of a tall order.  (Please, please excuse the pun.  I didn't even realize I made it until editing this post)

Snowpocalypse 2011

I found tall size options in similar styles.

1.  Tall striped shirt from Gap, 2. Tall skinny jeans from Height Goddess (side note: I've worn my HG skinnies every other day since I got them.  They're fantastic.), 3. Tall Lady Day coat from JCrew, 4.  Tall sweater from Old Navy, 5. Asos gloves and satchel, 6. Juicy Couture boots via Nordstrom, and 6. New Look necklace

What do you wear when it gets super cold outside?

Neutral comforts

Splendid striped sweater, $98 (Similar tall style from Old Navy, and a tall striped cardigan from JCPenney)
Current Elliott denim shirt, $182 (Similar tall oxford shirt from Gap)
Diane von Fürstenberg retro skirt, £133 (Simlar tall flare back skirt from JCPenney)
Charles David tall leather boots, $255
Forever21 leopard print clutch, $16, and a Goldwater 5-plate Statement necklace from Nordstrom

This week I've craved comfort.  But since I can't wear my lululemon lounge pants to work I've been coming up with outfits that balance comfort and polish.  I started with my soft denim shirt and flat knee-high boots, then added a wool pencil skirt and striped sweater and topped them off with a statement necklace.  I found tall size options in each of the styles and put links above.

I'm looking forward to a mostly-quiet weekend, outside of a NYE game night at our friends' house.  What's your NYE plan?

Maximum Comfort Dec 27 2011

I love lemon bars.  And seven layer bars, and sugar cookies, and...well...anything sweet and Christmasy.  So this week I also love stretchy, comfortable maxi dresses.   I've been pairing maxis with structured jackets and low booties to balance the lack of structure in the dresses.  I put together this inspiration board on my Polyvore page - the jacket is incredible and I was dying to style it.  Unfortunately there isn't anything comparable (especially in the cognac color) available in a tall size.  Someday, right?  In the meantime, I found similar options for tall women (although with a dark jacket and neutral dress). This board turned out to be merely inspiring - I don't need to tell you, but our tall options can be limited sometimes.  And now I'm going to stop complaining.  :)

1.  Leather zip jacket by Long Tall Sally, 2. Bar III chevron striped maxi dress from Macy's ($49.99), 3. BCBG 'Helen' bootie, 4. Rebecca Minkoff 3-zip Rocker Bag (here's a similar, less expensive option), 5. Green "Cooperative Conversational" scarf by Urban Outfitters, and 6. Bita Pourtavoosi Stuck Together Stack Ring from Max & Chloe

What are you wearing for post-Christmas comfort?
