April 2012

I'm in a fashion program at UW (have I mentioned that?), and our assignment last week was to write our consumer insight and brand story.  What do tall women shoppers believe?  What do I want a tall brand to stand for?  Well...I wrote from the heart, and it turns out my heart feels strongly about this subject.  And the result?  My instructor said I should either "soften" it a bit or make it a rallying cry.  I choose rallying cry.  :)

1.  I believe tall women should be able to find fashionable, well-made clothes designed for their tall frames.

2.  I believe I should be able to find clothes that reflect my personal style.

3.  I believe I shouldn't have to compromise fashion for fit.

4.  I desire options.

5. I desire to be recognized as a legitimate market segment that has buying power.

6.  I want to feel stylish, elegant, daring, and comfortable in clothes that are made for women my height.

7.  I don't want to wear clothes designed for women 10 inches shorter than me.

That's my tall shopping manifesto.  I'd love to hear yours!

I love Sundays. Especially sunny Sundays in Seattle that start with iced americanos on the deck of our local coffee shop and a walk through the Fremont Market. This morning I wore my Height Goddess skinny jeans, a 3/4 tee and animal print tank from JCrew (this tall tee would work, too!), and a scarf (similar) and cross body bag from H&M.

On another fun note, Scott and I are in the midst of some very fun DIY projects for the wedding. Here is Scott's latest creation: marquee letters! He built them from the ground up, and I'm in love (with both him AND the letters!). What a lucky girl I am.

Six weeks and counting until our engagement photos. I don't have to say it, but the outfit has to be JUST RIGHT. I'm looking for a brightly colored dress that is at least knee length (preferably a bit longer). We're using Scott's '58 Vespa in some of the pics so I've got to make sure the bits are covered when sitting... I found a mid-length dress in my favorite shade of green and styled it two ways. I'm leaning toward the coral cardigan as it's a little more feminine, but I do love the edginess (at least "edgy" for me) of the tall blazer and leopard loafers.

I found two more dresses I love - both from Shabby Apple. The Late Late and Red Queen.

Any advice?  Which is your favorite?
